are roman/greek antiquity items on Ebay legit?

I really love history, and I love collecting historical things….I’ve noticed there are a lot of spears/arrowheads that say they are greek/roman for sale on Ebay…..they look old, but the prices seem dirt cheap to me for something in my eyes that is priceless….I mean, I’ve seen arrowheads going for $10…..are these things usually legit? A lot of sellers have no mention on any kind of letter of authenticity. thanks.

While it is always more reliable to buy an item such as that in person; some of them (yes, even the cheaper ones) are legitimate, but a lot of them are replicas. I bought a 1,500 year old Grecian tear jar on eBay and it was a little over 120 dollars with a certificate of authenticity, which seemed dirt cheap for such a beautiful, priceless item, but sure enough, it is authentic.

Also keep in mind that the spears and arrowheads could be such a common archeological find in the area that they originated from that they would be sold for cheaper prices than most would assume that they’d go for.

My personal rule is not to trust any dealer unless they have information on the dig site and some form of authenticity. If the seller balks or gives dubious information when questioned; think twice before buying from them.
